      Aromatic Clove Rice

      Cloves are powerful, so a little goes a long way. This simple rice dish uses whole cloves to create a warm, fragrant base that pairs beautifully with meats or vegetables.

      Ingredients:

      • 1 cup basmati rice
      • 2 cups water
      • 3–4 whole cloves
      • 1 tbsp butter or oil
      • Salt

      Method:

      1. Rinse rice until water runs clear.
      2. Heat butter in a pan and lightly toast cloves for 30 seconds.
      3. Add rice and stir briefly.
      4. Add water and salt.
      5. Cover and simmer until cooked.
      6. Remove cloves before serving (optional).

      Why it works:
      Whole cloves slowly release flavour during cooking, giving depth without overpowering the dish.
